Alongside the successful neutralization of the extremists, authorities also seized a substantial cache of weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, from the encounter site.

Decisive-The encounter unfolded as a joint security team comprising the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF) engaged in a combative pursuit in the forests of Narayanpur district. Initiated at approximately 6 am, the operation targeted Maoist strongholds in the region.

Decisive-Preceding the encounter, security personnel embarked on a mission into the Maoist-infested terrain of Abujmarh, situated on the border between Narayanpur and Kanker districts. The clash erupted amidst dense forest cover between the villages of Tekmeta and Kakur.

Decisive-Officials overseeing the operation reported the recovery of the bodies of seven Maoist cadres, including two female members. Identification procedures for the deceased insurgents are currently underway. Additionally, the security forces uncovered an extensive assortment of arms and ammunition, along with sundry everyday items, from the Maoist camp.

This successful operation follows closely on the heels of another significant blow dealt to Maoist ranks earlier this month. In a separate encounter in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district, security forces eliminated 29 Maoists, including a prominent rebel leader, Shankar Rao, who carried a bounty of ₹ 25 lakh on his head. The encounter, occurring on April 16 in the Hapatola forest, marked a watershed moment in the state’s ongoing battle against Left Wing Extremism.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has emerged as a vocal advocate for decisive action against Maoist insurgents in Chhattisgarh. In a recent address at an election rally in Kanker town on April 22, Shah issued a stern warning to Maoists, urging them to surrender or face the consequences. Citing the significant toll inflicted upon Maoist ranks in recent months, Shah emphasized the need for continued efforts to eradicate the menace.

Decisive

Shah’s address underscored the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) commitment to eliminating Maoist insurgency in Chhattisgarh. He highlighted the substantial progress made in neutralizing Maoist elements, with 90 insurgents killed and over 123 arrested in the past four months alone. Furthermore, 250 Maoists have reportedly surrendered during this period, signaling a potential weakening of rebel forces.

Shah’s assurance of enhanced development and security measures under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership resonated strongly, offering a vision of a Maoist-free Chhattisgarh within two years. He emphasized the detrimental impact of Maoist insurgency on the welfare and development of tribal communities, pledging robust action to ensure access to essential services and infrastructure.

The resolute stance of the Union Home Minister reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to combating insurgency and fostering development in regions affected by Maoist violence. With successive encounters yielding significant results, security forces are poised to sustain pressure on insurgent groups while bolstering efforts to restore peace and stability in Chhattisgarh.
