Lawrence Bishnoi, an Indian gangster, has made headlines with his criminal activities and affiliation with a large gang. Born on February 12, 1993, in a village in Ferozpur, Punjab, Bishnoi’s father was a police constable but later became a farmer.

Bishnoi studied at Abohar until the 12th grade and then moved to Chandigarh to attend DAV College. It was during his time at Panjab University that he became involved in university politics and started committing crimes.

Lawrence Bishnoi criminal activities began in Chandigarh, where he faced several charges such as attempted murder, trespassing, assault, and robbery. These cases were all related to his involvement in student politics.

There were seven first information reports (FIRs) registered against him, out of which he was acquitted in four, while three cases are still pending. While in jail, Bishnoi built alliances with other criminals behind bars and continued to expand his gang.

After graduating in 2013, Bishnoi allegedly carried out violent acts, including the killings of the winning candidate in the Government College elections in Muktsar and a rival candidate in the Ludhiana Municipal Corporation elections.

He also ventured into the liquor trade and provided shelter to murderers within his gang. In 2014, he had a confrontation with the Rajasthan Police, which led to his imprisonment. Even while in jail, he plotted murders and witness executions.

Lawrence Bishnoi established a connection with gangster-turned-politician Jaswinder Singh, also known as Rocky, who operated in Bharatpur, Rajasthan. However, Rocky was assassinated in 2016 by Jaipal Bhullar, who was later gunned down in 2020.

One notable incident involving Bishnoi is his alleged connection to a plot to assassinate Bollywood actor Salman Khan. A close associate of Bishnoi, Sampath Nehra, claimed that he was tasked with carrying out the assassination due to Khan’s involvement in the Black Buck hunting case, which the Bishnoi community considers sacred.

Bishnoi himself made threats against Khan while being transported by police to court, stating that he would kill Khan in Jodhpur. He also claimed that he was being framed for fake charges.

Despite being imprisoned in Bharatpur jail, Bishnoi continued to operate his criminal syndicate with the help of jail staff. In 2021, he was transferred to Tihar Jail in Delhi for a case registered under the MCOCA.

Authorities have discovered that Bishnoi communicates with his associates outside the jail using Voice over IP calls.

Recently, Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala was assassinated in Mansa, Punjab, and responsibility for the shooting was claimed by Goldy Brar, who stated that he had conspired with Bishnoi.

The police believe that Bishnoi’s gang was involved in the shooting. Interestingly, Bishnoi was in Tihar Jail at the time of the assassination. The Delhi Police Special Cell has obtained a 5-day custody of Bishnoi for investigation.

Following Moose Wala’s assassination, Bishnoi expressed fear for his life and the possibility of a fake encounter by the Punjab police.

He filed a plea in the Delhi High Court requesting protection, but later withdrew it and moved the plea to the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

According to reports, the Bishnoi gang collaborates with 700 shooters across 5 states in India and also has connections outside the country.
