Sanjay Dutt-In a statement shared via social media platform X, Dutt asserted, “I would like to put all rumors about me joining politics to rest.
The declaration arrives amidst widespread speculation regarding Dutt’s purported candidacy in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections from Karnal, Haryana, representing the Congress party. Various reports had suggested that Congress was mulling over leveraging Dutt’s star power to contest against heavyweight opponent Manohar Lal Khattar, the former Chief Minister of Haryana, fielded by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The Karnal constituency, historically a BJP stronghold, has seen significant political contention. Nevertheless, Dutt unequivocally refuted any involvement in such endeavors.

Sanjay Dutt’s association with Haryana traces back to his familial ties, with his ancestral roots embedded in Yamunanagar district. This bond with the region has fueled speculation about his potential political aspirations. Previously, Dutt had engaged in campaigning activities within the state, endorsing the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader, Abhay Singh Chautala.

The Dutt family has a notable legacy in Indian politics, with his father, the late Sunil Dutt, having served multiple terms as a Congress Member of Parliament (MP) and also holding ministerial positions in the Manmohan Singh-led government. Similarly, his sister Priya Dutt has been a Congress MP, though their political engagements primarily centered on Mumbai’s electoral landscape.

Sanjay Dutt’s professional journey has been multifaceted, marked by notable achievements in the film industry alongside intermittent controversies. Notably, he faced legal ramifications stemming from an Arms Act case related to the possession of illegal weapons acquired from individuals linked to the 1993 Bombay blasts. This led to his incarceration, culminating in a five-year prison sentence, which he completed in 2016.

In light of these developments, Dutt’s recent clarification serves to dispel the conjecture surrounding his potential political debut. While his familial ties and personal affiliations may lend credence to such speculation, Dutt’s assertion reiterates the importance of relying on authentic sources for credible information. As the political landscape continues to evolve, Dutt’s categorical denial underscores the necessity for clarity amidst the swirl of conjecture and speculation.
